SHEDDING and PROTECTIVE STYLES

How much shedding is normal after you remove a protective style? Use this picture as a reference.

When wearing protective styles, I recommend keeping them in for no longer than 6-8 weeks.

Why?

-Your scalp needs a thorough cleansing by then

-Your leave out needs a break

-You don't want to stress those edges

-Your hair definitely needs a treatment and maybe even a trim at this point

If you have finer strands, don’t opt to wear protective styles for longer than 6 weeks or so. Doing so can cause the weight of the extensions to pull your hair out from the root. OUCH!
